Short educational and professional curriculum vitae of Dr. Vincenzo Matera

He studied Medicine and Surgery at the University of Firenze and at the University of Napoli "Federico II".
On February 8, 1984, he graduated from the University of Napoli "Federico II" with a degree in Medicine and Surgery, defending a thesis on the use of the CO2 laser in oncologic surgery of the larynx, and he joined the Medical Association of Salerno.
On July 24, 1987, he specialized in Otorhinolaryngology with honors at the Otorhinolaryngology School of the University of Napoli "Federico II" defending a thesis on the active anterior dynamic rhinomanometry.
On October 30, 1991, he specialized in Audiology with maximum grades at the Audiology School of the University of Napoli "Federico II" defending a thesis on middle ear and palatoschisis.
On October 19, 1995, he specialized in Phoniatry with maximum grades at the Phoniatry School of the University of Napoli "Federico II" defending a thesis on the vocal faltering in neurological pathologies. For many years, as an intern with the Ear Nose Throat Clinic of the University of Napoli "Federico II", he participated in various scientific studies later published - as well as in all clinical and surgery room activities. He has volunteered as Assistant Physician both at the above mention Ear Nose Throat Clinic and at the Ear Nose Throat ward of the hospitals "San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d'Aragona" in Salerno and "Santa Maria dell'Olmo" in Cava dei Tirreni. Through a national competitive examination, he was hired as Assistant Physician at the Ear Nose Throat unit of hospital "Luigi Curto" in Polla (SA). Through a national competitive examination, he was then appointed Associate Director of Otorhinolaryngology in the same hospital. At present, he is Head Physician in charge of the Audiovestibology and Day-Surgery and Day-Hospital sections in the same unit. For several years he has taught Otorhinolaryngology and Cervico-facial Pathology at the Italian Red Cross school for volunteer nurses and at the Professional Nursing School of the ASL Salerno 3. To date, he has published scientific papers and performed more than 1000 ear, nose and throat surgeries of various kinds as the primary surgeon. He keeps himself constantly abreast of scientific progress through specialization and refresher courses.
